This piston/cylinder combination was found in the 3.1 liter Porsche factory upgrade engine. The heads and cylinders use no cylinder mounted head gasket. The cylinder and piston have been cleaned after removal from the engine. It is planned to hone the cylinder walls with a medium Scotchbrite pad and soap and water. The piston tops were cleaned with plastic media in a beadblast cabinet. The cylinder tops were lapped on a granite plate using 320 grit paper, rotated around the piston which was held in place while the cylinder was lightly rotated about the piston.
